Residents and businesses in Beacon may avail themselves of discounted energy costs and reducing the carbon footprint by joining the new Solarize Beacon Plus program.

Participants have a choice of one of two solar consulting companies to conduct energy audits and install systems.

Signing up before the program expires this fall would save people in their energy bills, said Mayor Randy Casale.

“Anybody that signs up between when it started in July to November 15, the more people that sign up the bigger the savings you can get on the price. The most people that sign up, the more savings you can get on the price. The most somebody can save if they get enough people to sign up from one company would be 19 percent of the cost,” he said.

Casale said the more people who sign up with one company, the greater the savings per individual.
