Senator-Elect Sue Serino will take the oath of office in Putnam County this evening at 5 at the county courthouse. Putnam County Judge James Reitz will administer the oath in a ceremony organized by the Putnam County Legislature. Serino, a Republican, will also participate in a swearing in ceremony January 2 at noon in Hyde Park. Serino defeated incumbent Democrat Terry Gipson in the 41st District in the November election.

In the neighboring 40th District, Senator-Elect Terrence Murphy will be sworn in New Year’s Day at the Yorktown Stage in Westchester. Murphy, a Republican, defeated Democrat Justin Wagner for the seat held by Republican Greg Ball, who did not seek re-election.
