A New York congressman has penned a letter to President Barack Obama, calling for a travel ban from countries affected by Ebola.

Democratic Congressman Sean Patrick Maloney, a member of the House Transportation and Infrastructure Aviation Subcommittee, has called for a travel ban from countries affected by the Ebola outbreak, including Guinea, Liberia, and Sierra Leone. He says the ban is needed to stop the spread of the disease. He writes that he and his constituents in the 18th district do not believe that the new entry and exit procedures and screenings at JFK Airport and Newark Liberty Airport are enough to stop Ebola from entering the U.S. Meanwhile, President Obama Wednesday cancelled a planned trip to Connecticut and New Jersey to campaign for Democratic candidates to instead meet with his Cabinet about the Ebola outbreak. The change came as a second health worker in Dallas who provided care for the first Ebola patient diagnosed in the U.S. has tested positive for the disease.
