April 29—May 16 Visual Arts BFA Exhibit
The Annual BFA Exhibition showcases student work from the Russell Sage College’s Visual Arts BFA programs in Art+Extended Media, Graphic+Media Design and Interior+Spatial Design. Special gallery hours: Tues. through Sat. Noon to 5pm

Trash Chic!, at The Sketchbook Gallery, is a celebration of creativity that transforms the often discarded, overlooked, and thrown away. This diverse group of artists challenge the ideas of value, beauty, and permanence while highlighting the potential within what we throw away. We invite viewers to reconsider what “trash”is and discover how imagination can turn trash into something striking, meaningful, and new.

This exhibition is in conjunction with Matter Out of Place at Jane St. Art.

This exhibition brings together six invited artists who work with found objects, transforming overlooked materials into works of new meaning and possibility. Through the process of reimagining, these artists advocate for environmental concerns, drawing attention to using discarded materials while approaching their own creative practices with intentionality and care.

The exhibition is presented in conjunction with Trash Chic! at The Sketchbook Gallery.

All proceeds benefit local artists and the Woodstock School of Art.

Set in sunny Boca Raton, BOCA is a lively series of short, intertwining comedies about a group of retirees living in a fictional retirement community called Boca Oasis. In this garden of Eden the sun always shines, the lawns are manicured, and the weather holds steady at a perfect 75 degrees—just like Boca’s well-maintained seniors. Between rounds of golf, bridge, and the occasional Botox appointment, the residents discover that the real key to happiness may lie right within their own community. The play has been warmly received by audiences and critics alike

Ages 14 and Up

In this 3-day course, students will learn how to carve a linoleum block, print their design onto fabric, and sew their very own linocut pillows! Riss Principe will guide students through carving, mark-making,print registration, and beginner-friendly sewing machine techniques. Discover one of the many possibilities of printing on textile and take home a handmade, statement pillow! No prior experience necessary.

All materials included.

Parking: Please park on either Iwo Jima Lane or Cedar Street. Parking that is located in front of the Neighborhood Print Studio are for residents living in the Pajama Factory.

Please register at least a week in advance to guarantee your spot. Scholarship availability closes 2 weeks prior to the start of class.

Join Shaker Museum in celebrating the opening of Shaker Outpost: Design, Commerce, and Culture, featuring new work by renowned artist Maira Kalman in conversation with a selection of her favorite items from the Shaker Museum collection.

The General Store, a shop curated by Kalman that is complete with practical and poetic items for sale, will be open during the event.

Light refreshments and beverages will be served.

The hit public radio and podcast series comes to town again bringing three great actors and a rich diversity of voices from literature, film, theater, and comedy. Public Radio International’s wildly popular series and podcast goes live in a unique evening of literature in performance.

Next Stage Arts and Twilight Music present an evening of contemporary folk “in the round” with singer-songwriters Alice Howe, Freebo, Sam Robbins, and Halley Neal. In this intimate, collaborative format, each artist performs solo and joins the others onstage, creating a dynamic, one-of-a-kind shared concert experience.

Freebo, a folk, rock, and blues icon best known for his decade as bassist with Bonnie Raitt, is joined by award-winning vocalist Alice Howe, modern troubadour Sam Robbins, and Boston-based songwriter Halley Neal. Together, they bring rich harmonies, compelling songwriting, and a spirit of musical collaboration to the stage.
