Circus & the Bard: The Next Chapter bounces back July 16–26 at 11:30 am and 2:30 pm at the Tina Packer Playhouse!

Shakespeare & Company and Spirit of the Circus reunite for a playful mash-up of jaw-dropping circus acts paired with Shakespeare’s beloved characters. When high-flying feats meet the Bard’s words, sparks fly, laughs abound, and something truly magical happens.

What is a Sensory-Friendly Performance?Sensory-friendly performances are adapted to be less overwhelming and to welcome individuals with a range of sensory needs, including people who are neurodivergent; those with cognitive, social, or physical challenges; first-time theatergoers, and others. These performances offer pre-show materials such as story synopses and “what to expect” guides, along with reduced-intensity lighting and sound, dimmed house lights, and clear theater maps. Performances are relaxed; audience members are free to come and go, and total quiet is not expected. These shows are open to all patrons.

Waterfront Wednesdays is Arm-of-the-Sea Theater’s weekly summer performance series at the Tidewater Center, their seasonal cultural arts space based in Saugerties, NY. Catch the original show ONE BLUE SKY, a series of medicine tales encouraging hope & wonder presented through luminous mask & puppet theater and live original music. Come for a variety of pre-show activities and displays for all ages before the show.ONE BLUE SKY aims to re-spark joy and elemental wonder by celebrating the magic of DNA, the cycles of the cell, and glorious processes of photosynthesis through epic mask & puppet theater, guaranteed to awaken the most downtrodden hearts. This is an open, supportive space for musicians, poets, storytellers, and performers of all kinds to share their work. Sets will be 10–15 minutes.

Bread & Puppet Theater returns with The Upside Down World Circus, a spectacular outdoor performance blending giant papier-mâché puppets, towering stilt dancers, live brass music, and fearless political theater. In this timely new production, the internationally acclaimed Vermont company confronts today's "upside-down world" with a powerful mix of protest, humor, and celebration.
Founded in 1963 by Peter Schumann and now based in Glover, Vermont, Bread & Puppet is renowned worldwide for its visually stunning performances that combine puppetry, music, dance, and street theater into unforgettable public spectacles. Following each performance, audiences are invited to share the company's famous sourdough rye bread with aioli, and browse "Cheap Art"—posters, books, banners, and more from the Bread & Puppet Press.
Presented as part of the Bandwagon Summer Series, this family-friendly outdoor event welcomes all ages. Kids 12 and under are free. Bring a blanket or lawn chair, enjoy local food vendors and refreshments, and experience one of Vermont's most beloved and influential theater companies under the open sky.
