This March, every purchase of a $2.50 reusable Community Bag at the Big Y in Torrington, CT, supports the Housatonic Valley Association!
For every bag purchased, $1 will go toward HVA’s work to protect the natural resources and environmental health of the entire region, from the Berkshires, through western CT and eastern NY, to Long Island Sound. Seriously Whimsical is a group art exhibition that invites audiences to reconsider the role of play, imagination, and humor in contemporary art. Featuring works that incorporate elements of whimsy in unexpected and thoughtful ways, the exhibition celebrates creativity that is lighthearted on the surface yet grounded in intention and skill. The exhibition demonstrates how playful aesthetics can challenge assumptions, disarm audiences, and open space for reflection. Viewers are encouraged to engage closely, laugh freely, and look twice.Featuring works by four local and international artists, Seriously Whimsical celebrates the imaginative side of art — the kind that nudges, winks, and sometimes giggles in the face of convention. With mediums ranging from mixed media to collage and paper, the show captures the joyful tension between thoughtful technique and gleeful nonsense.“Whimsy is often misunderstood as frivolous,” the curator notes, “but in this show, it becomes a language—one that communicates complexity through curiosity and wonder.”Participating Artists:Penny Dell, Kelly Edwards, Theresa Gooby, Jinkook Hwang
As part of SoloFest 2026, Bridge Street Theatre in Catskill presents “Archie Parish’s Parting Words,” written and performed by Academy Award–winning author Ernest Thompson ("On Golden Pond").
This deeply personal solo performance blurs the lines between eulogy and confession, comedy and heartbreak, as Archie Parish — a reluctant, irreverent eulogist — reflects on the lives of the flawed and the forgotten. Through a series of raw and often humorous memorials, the piece explores memory, forgiveness, and the universal longing to find meaning in the time we’re given.
With warmth, wit, and emotional honesty, Thompson invites audiences to embrace vulnerability, connection, and the courage to live fully while the music lasts.
March 20–22: Fri & Sat 7pm, Sun 2pm.Tickets $30 adults / $25 students.
