Johnstown Revised School Budget Approved

One month after defeating the spending plan, voters passed the Greater Johnstown School District’s revised 2018-2019 budget Tuesday with 70 approval.

The first $35.8 million budget proposal included a 4.9 percent tax levy increase. It failed to garner the 60 percent vote required to break the tax cap. The revised $35.7 million budget includes a 3.7 percent property tax levy increase. It eliminates 13 positions and some extracurricular activities.

Superintendent Patricia Kilburn told The Daily Gazette the district still needs to cut at least $3 million from its budget over the next several years.
