Former Capital Region Superintendent Dies After Fall

Brian Howard, a well-known educator from the Capital Region, has died.

Howard served as superintendent of the Queensbury Union Free School District for six years. He also was an interim superintendent in Troy and Berlin.

It was reported Howard was injured Thursday while shoveling snow from the roof of his home, but officials were unable to determine how he fell. He died Friday at age 65.

In addition to being known throughout the Capital Region as an educator, Howard, a Democrat, entered politics last year with an unsuccessful run against Republican State Senator Kathy Marchione.
