Albany, NY – In today's Academic Minute, Dr. Dora Clarke-Pine of La Sierra University examines the shockingly common problem of plagiarism in doctoral dissertations.

Dora Clarke-Pine is an associate professor of psychology at La Sierra University. Her current research is focused on identifying and understanding unconscious acts of plagiarism. She has conducted three pilot studies and recently presented her findings to conferences held at Harvard and Cambridge. In the near future, Clarke-Pine plans to submit her findings for publication. Additionally, over the last two to three years she has incorporated specific activities into her classes in which students practice identifying and avoiding plagiarism.
