The Department of Environmental Conservation announced the final management plan for 18,000 acres of northern Adirondack forest land in Franklin County on Monday.
The state's recreation plan for the KushaquaTract calls for expanded access by all-terrain vehicles, snowmobiles and mountain bikes.
The land is owned by New Hampshire-based Lyme Timber Company but the state owns a conservation easement that includes public access to the land and about 100 miles of roads.
The management plan includes opening 26 miles of three-season roads to automobiles; 30 miles of roads and trails to ATVs from one to three seasons; and 30 miles of roads and trails to snowmobiles.
The state will also construct 12 campsites, four new trails and six parking lots.
The Kushaqua Tract is about 130 miles north of Albany.
