The Berkshire Regional Planning Commission will hold a workshop in Lenox, Massachusetts to teach political leaders about recreational marijuana, which is now legal statewide.
Municipalities across the county – including Adams, Lenox, Williamstown, and West Stockbridge – have grappled with how to regulate recreational marijuana after voters decided to legalize it on a statewide ballot question in November.
Pittsfield’s Ordinances and Rules Committee will discuss a possible ban August 21st.
The Berkshire Regional Planning Commission says local attorney J. Raymond Miyares will be there to answer questions after providing an overview of the new law.
In July, Governor Charlie Baker signed a law allowing communities to opt out of recreational pot sales and to determine local taxes on the drug.
The workshop starts at 6 on August 31st at Lenox Town Hall.
