Decommissioning Fund For Vermont Yankee Falls Short of Projections

Vernon, Vt – The Nuclear Regulatory Commission says the balance in the decommissioning fund for the Vermont Yankee Nuclear Power Plant is improving, even though it's still about $100 million short of the $513 million it should have in the fund by 2012. Critics say even if it was fully funded, the decommissioning figures are far below what's needed to dismantle the plant when it shuts down. WAMC North Country Bureau Chief Pat Bradley has more.
