NBA:

In the NBA finals, Cleveland beat Golden State 120-90 in Game 3. The Warriors leads the series 2-1.

MLB:

In baseball, in the American League, the Yankees doubled up the Angels 12-6, Toronto won against Detroit 7-2, Baltimore blanked Kansas City 4-0, Houston bested Texas 3-1, and it was Seattle over Cleveland 5-0.

In the National League, the Mets edged Pittsburgh 6-5 in 10 innings, St. Louis won against Cincinnati 12-7, Atlanta doubled up San Diego 4-2, the Cubs bested Philadelphia 8-1, and it was Colorado over the Dodgers 1-0.

In interleague play, San Francisco beat Boston 2-1, Milwaukee shut out Oakland 4-0, Tampa Bay doubled up Arizona 6-3, Minnesota beat Miami 7-5, and it was Washington over the White Sox 11-4.

Kelly Johnson is back with the New York Mets. The Mets acquired the utilityman from the Atlanta Braves Wednesday for right-hander Akeel Morris. As part of the deal, the Braves will pay the Mets $450,000 on August 1st to cover part of the $1,267,760 remaining of Johnson's $2 million salary.

Tennis:

Barring a successful appeal, you won't see Maria Sharapova compete in another tennis tournament until January 2018.

The five-time major champion has been suspended from competition by the International Tennis Federation after testing positive for meldonium at the Australian Open. The ban is retroactive to her positive test following a quarterfinal loss to Serena Williams.

The ruling by an independent three-person panel appointed says Sharapova did not intend to cheat because she didn't know meldonium was banned. But, she bears "sole responsibility" for the positive test. She was provisionally suspended by the ITF in early March, when she announced that she failed a doping test in January. The five-time Grand Slam champion immediately said she will appeal to sport's highest court.

NFL:

New York Jets tight end Kellen Davis is expected to be sidelined until training camp next month after having surgery to repair a torn ligament in his right thumb. Davis, the Jets' primary starter at tight end last season, was hurt last week during organized team activities. The New York Post first reported Davis' injury.

Cornerback Aqib Talib is having his gunshot wound evaluated by Broncos' doctors and trainers at the team's headquarters. He was shot over the weekend in Dallas, where he has an offseason home. Citing police, WFAA-TV in Dallas reported that Talib said he was too intoxicated to recall details of the shooting. The bullet entered Talib's right thigh and exited his right calf, suggesting a trajectory that could indicate Talib shot himself. He didn't need surgery and the Broncos have said he's expected to make a full recovery.

Boxing:

ESPN is switching the network for the opener of soccer's European Championship so it can provide live coverage of Muhammad Ali's memorial service on its flagship channel. The company said Wednesday that the Euro 2016 opener between host France and Romania Friday will shift from ESPN to ESPN2. Coverage of Ali's memorial service from Louisville, Kentucky, will now air on ESPN. Broadcasts of both start at 2 p.m. Eastern. Former President Bill Clinton will deliver Ali's eulogy at the KFC Yum! Center, which seats 15,000.

Meanwhile some people are trying to cash in on the free tickets they've obtained to the Muhammad Ali memorial service. Thousands of tickets for the service were claimed on a first-come, first-served basis in about an hour. Some ticket holders immediately sought to profit from the tickets by going online to sell theirs. Ali family spokesman Bob Gunnell denounced the profiteering, saying Ali wanted the free event to be open to all.
