The Kansas City Chiefs beat New England 41-14 last night to hand Bill Belichick one of his worst losses as coach of the Patriots. Along with throwing two interceptions, one of which was returned for a touchdown, Patriots quarterback Tom Brady was strip-sacked by Tamba Hali to step up a field goal. Brady finished 14 of 23 for 159 yards.

Dennis Allen is out as head coach of the Oakland Raiders after just two-plus seasons and an 8-28 record. The decision comes one day after the team lost its 10th straight contest dating to last season, 38-14 to Miami in London. The Raiders went 4-12 in each of their two full seasons under Allen and haven't had a winning season since capturing the 2002 AFC championship.

The Buffalo Bills have benched starting quarterback EJ Manuel. Coach Doug Marrone announced Monday that Kyle Orton will start Sunday's game against the Detroit Lions.

There's an outside chance that first-round draft pick Odell Beckham Jr. could make his NFL debut on Sunday when the New York Giants host the Atlanta Falcons. The speedy receiver pulled a hamstring early in training camp and missed all five preseason games and the first quarter of the regular season.

MLB:

New York Yankees manager Joe Girardi says returning third baseman Alex Rodriguez will have to show in spring training that he can still play. Rodriguez served a season-long suspension for violations of baseball's drug agreement and labor contract. The three-time AL MVP turns 40 in July.

The Houston Astros have introduced A.J. Hinch as their new manager, a job he previously held with the Arizona Diamondbacks. Hinch takes over for Bo Porter, who was let go Sept. 1 before the team finished 70-92. The former major league catcher most recently was the vice president of professional scouting for San Diego from 2010 until August.

NHL:

NHL preseason games continue as Ryan Haggerty and Jesper Fast each scored twice, and rookie Anthony Duclair added another goal as the New York Rangers beat the Philadelphia Flyers 6-3 in an exhibition game Monday night.

Henrik Lundqvist made 22 saves for New York.

NBA:

Carmelo Anthony knows the easiest path to a title probably isn't in New York. Had he gone to play with Derrick Rose in Chicago, or joined Dwight Howard and James Harden in Houston, he could have gone into this season with a real chance at a championship. Instead, Anthony chose Phil Jackson and Derek Fisher. The Knicks open their first training camp under rookie coach Fisher today at West Point.
