RPI's Haggerty Signs With NY Rangers

In men’s college basketball, American University beat out Boston University last night 55-36, for their first NCAA tournament berth in five years.

It was Wake Forest over Notre Dame 81-69, Miami beat Virginia Tech 57-53, Rutgers defeated South Florida 72-68, South Carolina topped Auburn 74-56, Oklahoma State beat Texas Tech 80-62, Georgia Tech bested Boston College 73-70, East Michigan edged Northern Illinois 53-48, UCF defeated Temple 94-90, it was Mississippi State over Vanderbuilt 82-68, and Baylor trumped TCU 76-68.

The New York Jets have agreed to terms with former Denver Broncos wide receiver Eric Decker, considered by many the top free agent at his position.

Decker spent all day Wednesday at the Jets' facility and had dinner with a contingent of team officials, including coach Rex Ryan. He gives quarterback Geno Smith and the offense a sorely needed playmaker and No. 1-type wide receiver.

Cornerback Darrelle Revis reached a deal with the New England Patriots for a one-year, $12 million dollar contract. He continue his reign as the NFL’s highest paid cornerback.

New York Knicks Forward Carmelo Anthony said Wednesday 11-time NBA champion coach, Phil Jackson, will be coming on board. Meanwhile New York beat Boston 116-92, Brooklyn squeaked by Miami 96-95, Sacramento trumped Philadelphia 115-98, and Toronto topped Detroit 101-87.

Charlotte topped Washington 98-85, Denver out shot Orlando 120-112, Memphis slid past New Orleans 90-88, Dallas bested Utah 108-101, it was San Antonio over Portland 103-90, Cleveland beat Phoenix 110-101, and the LA Clippers defeated Golden State 111-98.

Over on the ice, Boston trumped Montreal 4-1, Vancouver beat Winnipeg in a shoot out 3-2, it was Colorado over Chicago 3-2, and Calgary won against Anaheim 4-2.

Ryan Haggerty who just completed his junior year with the RPI hockey team, has signed a free agent contract with the New York Rangers. The junior is leaving for the NHL after scoring 84 points in three seasons.
