Albany, NY – Hydrogen fuel is practically limitless and the resulting energy would be clean and would not contribute to global warming. In our third audio diary, we follow MIT grad student Jennifer Ellsworth, as she works on the nation's newest approach to nuclear fusion. Jennifer and her team at MIT are working to create a new fusion device that will levitate a superconducting coil so that it floats on it's own. This first of its kind experiment, will test whether nature's way of confining high-temperature gas might lead to a new source of energy for the world. In the course of this audio diary, we'll learn about this project, and about what life is like for a grad student doing such important work. Maryanne Rahn-Erickson, Producer.
