A boil water advisory has been declared in Burlington, Vermont after a water main break.
Megan Moir. Water Resources Division Director for Burlington Public Works, said the advisory was declared as a precautionary measure after a 16-inch transmission line in the city’s South End failed around 2 p.m. Saturday.
Moir said South End customers began experiencing depressurization after the break.
“As the minutes ticked on, we started to get some calls from further north in the city – Church Street, North Street, with the further north call being Saratoga and Van Patten in the new North End. At which point, we weren’t sure what the extent of it was and decided to issue a precautionary advisory for the entire city for what we call the “low service.”
According to the city, the advisory will be in effect until lab results are returned. Updates are being posted at the City of Burlington Public Works Facebook page.
