A new award has been created in memory of Tim Brennan, who led the Pioneer Valley Planning Commission for decades.
The “Tim Brennan Exemplar Award” will go to a Pioneer Valley organization that serves the community while adapting to changing economic and cultural landscapes.
Brennan was the executive director of the regional planning agency from 1980 until his retirement in 2019. He died in March 2020.
Unable to publicly laud his accomplishments at the time of his death because of COVID-19, his friends and colleagues decided to create the award in his honor.
The award is co-sponsored by the Pioneer Valley Planning Commission and the Economic Development Council of Western Massachusetts.

Nominations for this year’s Tim Brennan Exemplar Award can be made through May 14th. The inaugural award recipient will be announced at the Planning Commission’s annual meeting in June.
