With large turnouts for early voting in parts of New York, a county executive in the Hudson Valley wants polling site hours expanded and sites added.

Democratic Ulster County Executive Pat Ryan is calling on the county Board of Elections to expand hours at the five early voting sites, add polling locations and take any other actions permissible to ensure a smooth process for voters. Republican Election Commissioner Tom Turco says there will not be any increased hours or additional sites for early voting, and advises voters to return Election Day or vote via absentee ballot if they don’t want to wait on a long line. Democratic Election Commissioner Ashley Dittus says expanding hours would be a simple task and Tuesday morning, she proposed just that. However, both election commissioners have to agree to such a change.
