Central Berkshire District Court First Justice William Rota has stepped down.
William Rota requested to step down on June 20th. The Berkshire Eagle reports Rota will have less responsibility but will remain on the bench.
Rota was nominated to the position by then-Governor Deval Patrick in 2014 after more than 30 years of civil and criminal litigation.
Judge Jacklyn Connly will take over as First Justice.
