Massachusetts Senator John Kerry is saying his thank-you’s and goodbyes as he prepares to become the country’s Secretary of State.
In a nearly hour long farewell address in the Senate Chamber, Kerry lamented the recent gridlock in the legislative process, but said he had hope in seeing a new generation of Senators not given to cynicism. He said it was the honor of a lifetime to represent Massachusetts in the senate for 29 years.
Kerry will thank constituents in farewell tour of Massachusetts that starts Thursday morning in Springfield. His resignation from the senate is effective Friday afternoon.
