Adirondack Rail Trail Project Work Begins

The New York state Department of Transportation has broken ground on a rail-trail project in the Adirondacks.
The New York state Departments of Environmental Conservation and Transportation announced the official start of work to remove rail tracks to create a 34-mile multi-use recreational trail between Tupper Lake and Lake Placid.

The $1.9 million project is part of the larger Remsen-Lake Placid Travel Corridor plan that includes rehabilitating existing tracks between Tupper Lake and Big Moose to create one of the longest scenic railways in the country.
