Clinton Community College in Plattsburgh announced Friday that the Board of Trustees is expected to approve layoffs at a special meeting on Monday.
The layoffs of faculty and staff is intended to help stabilize the college’s budget. The college cites lower state aid and lower enrollment as the reasons for the cuts.
From Fall 2013 to Fall 2014 the community college had a 9.6 percent drop in full time student enrollment. Personnel and benefits account for 85% of total operating expenses.
Clinton Community College is a part of the State University of New York system.
