The first snow of the season has fallen in the Adirondacks, where Whiteface Mountain has received a dusting.
The New York State Olympic Regional Development Authority says the mountain in Wilmington, near Lake Placid, received some light snow Thursday. If the weather continues to get colder, ORDA plans to open the Whiteface ski area for the winter season on Nov. 28.
The National Weather Service says low temperatures dipped into the 30s early Friday morning.
Earlier in the week television engineers at the top of Vermont’s highest peak - Mount Mansfield - also reported light snowfall.
