Springfield School Committee adopts $588 million budget

Schools get some funds directly to customize spending plans

The largest public school district in western Massachusetts has a new budget in place.

The Springfield School Committee unanimously voted to adopt a $588 million budget for the fiscal year that starts July 1^st.

WAMC’s Pioneer Valley Bureau Chief Paul Tuthill spoke with School Committee member Chris Collins, who chairs the body’s Finance Committee.
