New York State Lawmakers Return To Albany Monday

New York lawmakers are headed back to Albany to wrap up their work for the year.

The Senate and Assembly are scheduled to reconvene Monday to begin the last seven weeks of their annual legislative session. They've been on break for two weeks after blowing a key deadline and passing a $153 billion state budget several days late.

Top issues include ethics code changes, revisions to outdated election laws, and proposals to raise the age of marriage.

Democratic Gov. Andrew Cuomo says he doubts lawmakers have the political will to take up ethics proposals.

There's greater consensus on outlawing child marriage. State law now allows children as young as 14 to marry with parental and judicial consent.

Proposals from lawmakers would raise the minimum age to marry to 17.
