It seems an emergency shelter for the homeless will remain at its new location in Saratoga Springs this winter despite objections from neighbors.
The Salvation Army has reaffirmed its stance on not hosting Code Blue Saratoga at its downtown building. The Army partnered with Code Blue for the last two winters to open its doors to the homeless on cold nights.
In a statement, Salvation Army Advisory Board Chair Dale Wilman said last year’s request from Governor Andrew Cuomo for emergency shelters to open when temperatures dip below freezing created issues, including the cancellation of its after school program.
Code Blue Saratoga, operated by Shelters of Saratoga, is on track to open at its new location at the Soul Saving Station church on Henry Street in November.
