New York, NY – The NYPD says heightened security put in place in response to the killing of Osama bin Laden will remain at least through President Barack Obama's ground zero visit later this week. WAMC's Dave Lucas has more...

Police officials reiterated Tuesday there are no specific threats against the city. But they also say they assume the al-Qaeda leader's "disciples" might try to avenge his death with a terror attack.

Since the dramatic raid on bin Laden's lair was announced, the NYPD has directed commands across the city to be on the lookout for suspicious packages at landmarks and other potential targets. Officers also were working overtime to give extra protection to the subways during rush-hours.

The president plans to pay his respects Thursday at the site of the September 11, 2001 attack in lower Manhattan.
