Hudson Valley, NY –

American journalist Roxana Saberi is on a hunger strike in an Iranian prison, protesting her conviction on spying charges. Chinese writer Liu Xiaobo (LOO zha-BO) has been in jail since December because of his criticism of the government's human rights policies. In New York this week, an international group of writers and journalists have gathered to call for their release, and to honor Xiaobo in absentia. Hudson Valley bureau chief Susan Barnett spoke with Larry Siems - director of the freedom to write and international program at the PEN American Center.
The PEN World Voices of International Literature is going on all this week in NY.
