Albany, NY – Counties stand to lose millions in state aid if lawmakers go through with New York Governor David Paterson's proposed cuts in state spending. The Senate and Assembly meet in special session today in an attempt to cut $1 billion in state spending and that could include a six percent cut in state aid to localities and cuts to programs like Medicaid.
