Albany, NY – New York State lawmakers are faced with the decision to renew parts of the sex offender registration act-better known as Megan's law-later this month in order to keep convicted low-level sex offenders from slipping off the state registry. Governor Pataki and Lawmakers from the Capital Region are leading the push against sex offenders and child molesters, while sex offender treatment specialists say the whole registry system is flawed.
