Former Berkshire DA Capeless Breaks Silence On Harrington, Caccaviello And More

https://www.mass.gov
Former Berkshire DA David Capeless (L) and incumbent DA Paul Caccaviello (R). Caccaviello is currently running a write-in campaign in November's general election after losing the democratic primary to Andrea Harrington.

Seven months after his sudden retirement, former Berkshire District Attorney David Capeless continues to loom over the campaign to replace him. The race began with controversy surrounding how Capeless installed his successor, Paul Caccaviello, and hasn’t cooled down since. The Democratic primary included attacks on his 14-year tenure and even saw Capeless’ wife entering the bitter campaign.

But Capeless himself has been largely silent since stepping down in March. Until now. He spoke with WAMC Friday morning about the race. In the full interview, Capeless gives his impression of Democratic primary winner Andrea Harrington, discusses the likelihood of Caccaviello’s write-in campaign prevailing on November 6th, and more.

Josh Landes has been WAMC's Berkshire Bureau Chief since February 2018, following stints at WBGO Newark and WFMU East Orange. A passionate advocate for Western Massachusetts, Landes was raised in Pittsfield and attended Hampshire College in Amherst, receiving his bachelor's in Ethnomusicology and Radio Production. His free time is spent with his cat Harry, experimental electronic music, and exploring the woods.
