A replica handgun was discovered at a Pittsfield high school.
Pittsfield Police say a student had reported seeing another student with a handgun at Taconic High School. An investigation was opened. The student accused denied having a weapon and a search turned up nothing.
A review of school video footage showed the original incident had been misreported.
On Thursday evening, a K-9 unit discovered the air-powered pellet pistol in an area behind the school. The investigation is ongoing. Criminal charges may be pending and additional administrative actions may be taken by the school district.
