Police have released surveillance images of a vehicle spotted near a Vermont school athletic field that was found to be spray-painted with racist graffiti.
South Burlington police are investigating the vandalism as a hate crime.

The graffiti was discovered Tuesday as residents voted for a third time on a school budget amid controversy about abandoning the school mascot nickname Rebel.

Police say a light-colored four-door vehicle with a sun roof entered the South Burlington High School parking lot around 11:30 p.m. Monday and parked in front of the turf field.
At least one person in a light shirt got out the car. The vehicle left shortly before midnight.

Police are asking anyone with information about the case to contact the South Burlington Police Department.
