Worker Cooperative Greenhouse Planned For Brownfield Site

Wellspring Cooperative

Plans are moving ahead to develop a worker cooperative commercial greenhouse in Springfield, Massachusetts.

A site for it has been found, buyers lined up for the food that will be grown, and a direct public offering is being made to enlist investors for the project.

A public information session is taking in Springfield later today.

WAMC’s Pioneer Valley Bureau Chief Paul Tuthill spoke with Fred Rose, Co-director of Wellspring Cooperative.

The record-setting tenure of Springfield Mayor Domenic Sarno. The 2011 tornado and its recovery that remade the largest city in Western Massachusetts. The fallout from the deadly COVID outbreak at the Holyoke Soldiers Home. Those are just a few of the thousands and thousands of stories WAMC’s Pioneer Valley Bureau Chief Paul Tuthill has covered for WAMC in his nearly 17 years with the station.
