Berkshire Health Systems is offering to help patients of a North Adams doctor whose license was suspended over substandard care.BHS is augmenting its Northern Berkshire health program to manage the coordination and continuation of care for Dr. Shaohua Tang’s patients, according to BHS spokesman Michael Leary.
“Dr. Tang has expressed his willingness to assist in addressing this challenge in any way that he properly can,” said Leary.
Those looking for care can call 800-832-2516. The Massachusetts Board of Registration in Medicine suspended Dr. Tang’s license last week saying he poses an immediate threat to public health. The Berkshire Eagle reports documents show that in August Tang gave fenantyl to a patient he’d seen since 2009 who had been diagnosed as an addict a year earlier. The man died of a fenantyl overdose the next day. Tang runs Integrative Medicine in North Adams. A message left at the office was not returned. The board says he has a right to a hearing.
