Pittsfield police allege a city man stole a safe containing nearly $2 million worth of stocks and bonds from a local home with the help of the homeowners' son.Twenty-one-year-old Jacob Ferry pleaded not guilty to larceny and breaking and entering charges earlier this week in Central Berkshire District Court. The homeowners' 17-year-old son was also arrested.

The Berkshire Eagle reports the homeowners reported the theft to police last Friday. Police allege the couple's son gave Ferry the locations of security cameras, a key and the passcode to a basement lock, apparently to settle a dispute over a marijuana deal.

Ferry's lawyer questioned whether the paperwork for the stocks and bonds in the safe had any real value, because it could only be converted into cash by the account holders.
