One of four Pittsfield men accused of raping a woman in her dorm room at UMass Amherst three years ago has pleaded guilty.

Caleb Womack, 20, pleaded guilty to amended charges of two counts of indecent assault and battery and one count of rape.  He was sentenced to five years in jail to be followed by 10 years on probation, according to a spokesperson for the Northwestern District Attorney.

Womack changed his plea Monday as jury selection was about to begin for his trial in Northampton Superior Court.

The three other men accused of raping the woman were each convicted in separate jury trials and received prison sentences requiring them to serve a minimum of 8 years.

Following the rape, UMass Amherst spent $2 million on security improvements in the campus residence halls.
