Mayor-elect Linda Tyer is beginning her transition into Pittsfield’s top office by reaching out to department heads. The city clerk beat two-term Mayor Dan Bianchi at the polls earlier this month.Tyer has requested department heads send her their resumes, top department initiatives and areas for improvement. Saying she is taking this action with Mayor Bianchi’s support, Tyer plans to meet with each department manager after Thanksgiving.
“Before I spend any more money, I want to really take a serious look at how we’re structured,” Tyer said during a recent interview with WAMC. “Are we set up in a way that’s really ready to meet the needs of our city? That includes understanding personnel.”
Tyer is scheduled to take office January 4th. She will serve Pittsfield’s first four-year mayoral term.
