One person was sent to the hospital after a trellis fell at a Pittsfield Price Chopper Tuesday morning. The Berkshire Eagle reports Deron Humphries was taken to Berkshire Medical Center. A hospital spokesman says he is in good condition as of Wednesday morning.
An electrician on an electrical lift accidentally bumped a section of wooden trellis hanging in the front end of the Hubbard Avenue store, causing the cable holding the trellis to snap Tuesday morning, according to Mona Golub of Price Chopper owner Golub Corporation.
“Clearly a set of unusual circumstances led to this incident, but for safety’s sake we are removing all similar fixtures in the store,” said Golub.
The store is under renovation as Price Chopper transitions to the new Market 32. Golub says the company is reviewing trellises in its other stores.
