Former Massachusetts U.S. Sen. Scott Brown has won his Republican primary in New Hampshire, advancing his attempt to get back to the Senate from another state.
Brown faced two serious primary challenges Tuesday but was the front-runner from the start. He'll face Democratic first-term U.S. Sen. Jeanne Shaheen in November.
If successful, Brown would become only the third U.S. senator to serve multiple states. He represented Massachusetts after winning a 2010 special election against Democrat Martha Coakley, currently the commonwealth’s attorney general and a candidate for governor, for the late Democrat Ted Kennedy's seat.
Scott lost to Democrat Elizabeth Warren in 2012 and moved last year to New Hampshire, where he had a vacation home and lived as a toddler.
New Hampshire's race is among a handful that will decide control of the Senate for the final two years of President Barack Obama's term.
