U.S. Sen. Edward Markey is planning a tour of western Massachusetts to talk with mayors, business leaders and local voters.
The Massachusetts Democrat will begin today’s visiting with Pittsfield Mayor Daniel Bianchi before talking with local business owners along North Street near city hall.
Markey then heads to Chicopee to meet with Mayor Michael Bissonette and visit the River Mill Senior Center brownfield redevelopment site. From there, Markey is planning to visit Springfield businesses and tour Union Station with Mayor Dominic Sarno.
Markey wraps up his western Massachusetts visit with a tour of the John Olver transit center with Greenfield Mayor William Martin.
Markey won a June special election to fill the seat left vacant by John Kerry's resignation from the Senate to become U.S. secretary of state.
