Despite having little chance of winning his home state in the general election, former Massachusetts governor Mitt Romney is not forgetting the state this week in Tampa

The Boston Globe reports that Massachusetts delegates will be front and center at this year’s convention, no longer housed far from the convention center. The Bay State contingent will get prime seating on the floor of the Tampa Bay Times Forum and rooms across the street with the Romney's at the posh 27-story Tampa Marriott Waterside Hotel & Marina.

Senator Scott Brown will be the first sitting GOP Senator from the state to attend a national convention since Edward W. Brooke in 1978.

Boston-based Republican consultant Rob Gray told the Globe the state’s new acceptance into the GOP mainstream will continue if Romney wins the election. If he doesn’t win, says Gray, they’ll go back to being an alien race once again.
