Environmental officials have scheduled a hearing to discuss the next steps for the cleanup of a former chromium plating site in Attleboro.
The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection are evaluating the site for inclusion on the National Priorities List for cleanup.
The site housed a chromium plating facility once operated by Walton & Lonsbury Inc. From 1940 to 1970, waste from the facility discharged into wetlands on the property. Contaminants of concern on the site include total chromium, hexavalent chromium, lead and volatile organic compounds.
A meeting is set for Monday at Attleboro City Hall to update removal activities.
The EPA began cleaning the site in October 2010.
