Public Bus Operator Extends Free Service In Kingston

In New York’s Ulster County, free bus service will continue in Kingston.

County Executive Patrick Ryan says Ulster County Area Transit’s Red, Yellow and Blue routes in the city will continue free service through March 31. It’s a three-month extension to the original six-month “free fares” period implemented following UCAT’s expansion of service into Kingston in July. Beginning April 1, UCAT is proposing a base fare of $0.50 on routes within the city; less than the $1.00 charged by by Kingston prior to the consolidation of two bus systems. There will be a public meeting February 10, at the UCAT offices in Kingston to inform the public about the new fare structure and allow the public to provide feedback on the new routes.
