WWII Veteran Hopes To Receive Birthday Cards From Around The Globe

Pat Bradley/WAMC

A New York congressman is encouraging Americans around the world to send cards to a World War II veteran in the Hudson Valley who will be celebrating his 100th birthday.

Congressman Sean Patrick Maloney says Emil Valentine of Orange County always wanted birthday cards from around the country and the world. Maloney says Valentine’s family reached out to his office requesting assistance in honoring the veteran ahead of his 100th birthday April 22. Maloney, a Democrat from the 18th District, has asked the White House to provide a greeting and will present Valentine, who served in the 27th Infantry Division, with a flag flown over the U.S. Capitol on the veteran’s 100th birthday.

Cards may be sent to Emil Valentine, PO Box 1001 Rock Hill, NY 12775
