With students getting ready for the fall semester, one Hudson Valley college is debuting a new program.

Marist College in Poughkeepsie is welcoming 1,330 freshman starting Saturday. College officials say the freshman class is the most racially and ethnically diverse in Marist history, with students from underrepresented groups making up 23 percent of the incoming class. In addition, 36 students will spend their first year at the Marist campus in Italy as part of the Freshman Florence Experience. Plus, the college is launching its new Freshman Dublin Experience, in which 29 students will spend their first year taking classes in Ireland.
