The New York State Public Service Commission Thursday is scheduled to decide whether to approve a surcharge for a proposed water project in Rockland County along with a related issue.

The Public Service Commission is holding a regular session in Albany, and its list of items includes two matters concerning United Water New York. The PSC is slated to decide whether to allow United Water’s proposed surcharge for costs incurred for a yet-to-be-built water desalination plant in Haverstraw, in Rockland County. The PSC also is scheduled to examine United Water’s development of a new long-term water supply source. There have been requests from several parties to delay the decisions, pending the findings of a forensic audit into accounting irregularities, requests opposed by United Water’s attorneys.
