A new elevator will be set into motion Thursday morning at a famous pedestrian bridge in the Hudson Valley.
Official from the New York State Office of Parks, Recreation & Historic Preservation and Walkway Over the Hudson organization will unveil the Walkway State Historic Park Elevator before noon. State and local officials, among others, will take a ride before the 21-story elevator officially opens to the public at 1. The event will celebrate the new connection linking the developing Poughkeepsie waterfront and the Metro North Train Station to Walkway. Walkway spans the Hudson River, connecting Poughkeepsie in Dutchess County to Highland in Ulster County.
