Walkway Gathering Focuses On Solidarity Message To Nigeria

There will be a Mother’s Day walk in the Hudson Valley Sunday to send a solidarity message to Nigeria.

The Dutchess County Regional Chamber of Commerce’s Women’s Leadership Alliance and the Omega Women’s Leadership Center are behind the gathering at Walkway Over The Hudson to call for an end to violence against women and girls everywhere. This comes as 276 schoolgirls remain missing after having been abducted in northeastern Nigeria three weeks ago. After the kidnapping, activism took hold on Twitter via #BringBackOurGirls. The Walkway gathering Sunday is to send a message that what has happened in Nigeria cannot be ignored, to stand in solidarity with the mothers and girls of Nigeria. The event begins on the Poughkeepsie side of the Walkway at 10 a.m.
